SOLD OUT: Smade Entertainment Delivers The Biggest Afro Republik Concert In History With Wizkid & Friends

Wizkid headlined the biggest Afro Republik concert at the O2 Arena, London alongside other Nigerian artistes like Tekno, Tiwa Savage, Maleek Berry and Mr Eazi.

The SOLD-OUT concert was put together by SMADE Entertainment; UK’s number one afro beats promoter.

History was made as the concert boasted about 20,000 people in attendance making it the biggest Afro Republik concert held so far.

One of the highlights of the event was when Wizkid invited Tiwa Savage to join him on stage to perform their hit song; “Ma lo”.

Supermodel Naomi Campbell and British-Nigerian actor, John Boyega, alongside Zion Ayo Balogun were guests at the very successful event.

After a period of 4 weeks of receiving several entries of beautiful selfie pictures, 10 best and most creative selfie were selected each week by TECNO’s panel of judges.

At the end of the 4th week, all selected 40 selfie images were made into a GIF and people were asked to vote their favorite Selfie King and Queen. The voting lasted for a period of 1 week (11th May to 17TH May), after which the winners emerged.

Children’s Day: Peak Milk Unveils Nigeria’s Largest Chocolate Cup

FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria PLC, makers of Peak Chocolate Full Cream Milk Powder and Peak 456 Growing Up Milk unveiled a 10-foot high chocolate cup, Nigeria’s largest, in celebration of Children’s Day and ahead of the World Milk Day on June 1.

The unveiling which took place at JJT Park in Lagos in partnership with the Nutrition Society of Nigeria was attended by more than 2,000 children, parents and guardians.

Speaking at the event, Gloria Jacobs, Brand Manager of Peak Chocolate Full Cream Milk Powder, stated that the essence of unveiling the giant chocolate cup was to re-emphasize the importance of nutrition whilst creating excitement among the children.

“With this year’s event, we wanted to show something spectacular and never-been-done feat to Nigerian children and particularly impress on them the importance of good nutrition by taking Peak Chocolate and Peak 456 daily for optimal growth and brain development because both contain adequate vitamins and essential nutrients” Jacobs said.

Also speaking at the event, Akon Imoh, Senior Brand Manager, Peak 456 Growing Up Milk explained that to demonstrate the versatility of milk in everyday foods, the children were encouraged to prepare daily recipes with Peak 456 and Peak Chocolate as a follow up to their Peak masterclass. The children then produced pancakes, chocolate cakes and doughnuts, and banana smoothies to the amazement of their parents. There was also a masterclass for mums to highlight the nutritional benefits of adding milk to their children’s daily foods.

Rounding off, Maureen Ifada, Marketing Manager, Peak, reiterated that the Peak brand is synonymous with quality and high standards, and so always goes a step further in providing the best nutrition required for daily living.

“Children are very important to us at FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria and it is very essential to cultivate them young, especially at this stage of their growth when they need high quality nutrition for optimal brain growth, strong body development, sharp minds and a healthy lifestyle,” she said.

As parts of the company’s goals to encourage an active lifestyle from an early age, the children were given the opportunity to participate in outdoor games and perform the drink-move-be-strong exercise routine. FrieslandCampina Celebrates 2018 World Milk Day in Grand Style

In commemoration of 2018 World Milk Day, Nigeria’s leading dairy nutrition company, FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria PLC., makers of Peak and Three crowns milk, Peak 456 and Peak Choco have reinforced its brand relevance among consumers and strategic stakeholders with an array of activities. In what has been described as a show-stopping initiative, this year’s theme tagged ‘Raise a Glass’ is meant to encourage people to appreciate the nutritious benefits of milk, this was done in partnership with the Nutrition society of Nigeria (NSN).

FrieslandCampina WAMCO started the2018 edition of World Milk Day activities on May25thwitha visit to  their local dairy Farmers at Iseyin, Oyo state. They have continued to support over 3,500 local dairy farmers (including women) to expand their investmentopportunities as the milk collected from the dairy farmers is used in the local manufacturing of Peak evaporated milk. . The visit was meant to appreciate the effort of farmers as being the starting point in milk production process. During the visit, the farmers showed the FCW Corporates the process they go through in milking cows and preserving the milk.It is sent for further production into evaporated and powdered milk. Experts from the NSN also enlightened the farmers on the nutritional benefits of drinking milk.

Similarly, FrieslandCampina embarked on a trade visit to various open markets, supermarkets and sales outlets across the country. This was done in collaboration with the Nigeria Heart Foundation and Nutrition Society of Nigeria whose officials enlightened shoppers on the nutritious & health benefits of milk drinking. Customers were also given the opportunity to win various prizes.

The children were not left out in the fun as over two thousand children and their parents took part in the Peak Children’s Day Party held on May 27 at the JJT Park, Alausa Lagos. The children played different games and were informed on the importance of drinking milk by officials of Nutrition Society of Nigeria. They also participated in PeCaDoMo junior where they were opened to cooking at an early age with various recipes that can be combined with milk. The highpoint of the party was the unveiling of the largest Choco Cup which was about 10ft tall to the excitement of the crowd. During the event, the brand manager of Peak Chocolate, Gloria Jacobs stated that “with this year’s event, we wanted to show something spectacular and that has never been done before to the Nigerian Children and particularly impress on them the importance of nutrition by taking Peak Chocolate and Peak 456 daily for optimal growth and brain development because both contain adequate vitamins and essential nutrients”

On World Milk Day, FrieslandCampina WAMCO hosted over 200 Health Care practitioners advocating for a better milking drinking culture. Speaking during the event, the Managing Director, FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria, represented by Corporate Affairs Director, FrieslandCampina Wamco, Mrs. Ore Famurewa stated that

In addition to the World Milk Day celebration, FrieslandCampina organized PeCaDoMo Engagement where the Health Care Practitioners were with Health Care Practitioners shown different ways of creating various delicacies using peak milk. The World Milk Day which holds annually on June 1st is a day set aside by the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) to celebrate the important contributions of the dairy sector to sustainability, economic development and livelihoods and nutrition.

Google Launches Google Station To Provide Free High Speed Wifi To Millions Of Nigerians

Google today hosted its second Google for Nigeria event where it made a number of big announcements aimed at helping more people in Nigeria, and across Africa, benefit from the opportunities the web has to offer.

In a bid to make the internet more easily accessible to people in Nigeria, Google is launching Google Station for Nigeria: a program to provide high quality, high-speed Wi-Fi hotspots in partnership with 21st Century, one of the largest fibre network providers in Nigeria.

“Google Station will be rolling out in 200 locations in five cities across Nigeria by the end of 2019, bringing Wi-Fi to millions of people,” says Google Nigeria Country Director, Juliet Ehimuan-Chiazor. “Sites include markets, transport hubs, shopping malls, universities, and more. Nigeria is the fifth country to get Google Station, after India, Indonesia, Thailand and Mexico.”

Google is also making search more powerful for ordinary Africans. Job search launched in March in South Africa, Nigeria and Kenya, and is now rolling out in 29 new countries. In Nigeria, Google is launching a search experience that allows users to explore health conditions based on symptoms, as well as recipe search for anyone who needs a little food inspiration.

StreetView’s Discover Nigeria gallery has been expanded to include more of Nigeria’s wonders including the National Museum in Lagos, Olumo Rock in Abeokuta, Millenium Park in Abuja, and Lekki Conservation Centre.

Additionally, Google announced the update of several products from its “Go” initiative, which were launched in the past year. The Go product suite aims to give people with low bandwidth connections and low-RAM devices the best possible Google experience. These new features include:

  • Google Go: will soon read web pages out loud and highlight each word so users can follow along.

  • YouTube Go: users will be able to browse downloaded YouTube Go videos, saved as .yt files, right from the gallery on their phones.

  • Google Maps Go: will now provide users with turn-by-turn directions, whether they’re travelling by car, by bus or on foot.

  • Android Go: Launched in Nigeria and 29 other African countries earlier this year, the Go OS gives people coming online for the first time a powerful and reliable smartphone experience. Across Africa, Transsion, Nokia, Huawei, and Mobicel have launched various devices, starting at just over 17,000 Naira.

Over 2.5 million of the 10 million Africans Google promised to train by 2022 have been trained through the Digital Skills Programme. Google has trained a further 9,000 Africans in mobile app development and Google’s Launchpad Accelerator Africa initiative graduated 12 promising startups from across the continent in June.

The application process of the ongoing Google Impact Challenge, part of Google’s $20m Google.org commitment to Africa over the next five years, closed with over 5,500 entries. The process of selecting the 36 finalists has begun.

“We are offering new solutions to improve and expand access in Nigeria and across Africa; these launches demonstrate our commitment to Africa through products built to help people in Africa to make the most of the Internet,” concludes Ehimuan-Chiazor.
